we’re into that

I love it when I talk to friends who are really trying to get me to go to their church. We talk about how I think church is dumb and a waste of time and how it ruins people. Mostly just I talk about all that.

The weirdest thing happens. The person I am talking to tells me they agree with me. The best part is that their church isn’t that way. I can’t believe I’ve been out there all this time blasting churches for worshiping pastors and taking people’s money and wasting people’s time on Sunday mornings. All this time I was fighting a straw man. Churches aren’t really like that at all, at least not the churches that these people go to. Their church is into all that cool young relationship stuff.

I can find out more about how their church is into participation and relationships and not into pastor worship or taking money or any of that lame stuff. All I have to do is go to their church on Sunday morning and I can listen to the pastor tell me all about it. When I come I should bring some money so that they can fund their small groups outreach. That is where the relationships really happen. I can even attend a small group myself on Wednesday night. When they get together they get really personal and have time to share with each other, so long as what they share is in line with what the pastor preached on Sunday and is part of the Small Group curriculum that the Pastor has laid out for the week.

Yeah, sign me up.

I want to lose more weight. I think if I just go to another fast food restaurant and eat their fattening food that I’ll be just fine.
